REMINDER: Eric Hovde Wants To Strip Health Coverage From Wisconsinites With Pre-Existing Conditions

MADISON, Wis. — Thirteen years ago today, the Affordable Care Act’s Patient’s Bill of Rights went into effect, ensuring that the tens of millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions would have access to the health care coverage they need.

Potential Wisconsin GOP Senate candidate Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach) supports stripping these protections from millions of Americans, opening them up to obscene prices for life-saving health care.

When asked if there were any parts of the ACA that he supported, and specifically if he supported the provision on protecting people with pre-existing conditions, Hovde emphatically said “no.” Hovde also called a full repeal of the ACA one of his top priorities and said he wanted to “defund every aspect of the ACA.

“There’s nothing more out-of-touch with Wisconsin values and more dangerous than trying to strip health coverage from millions of working families. Wisconsinites don’t need a megamillionaire banker deciding what health coverage we get, which is exactly why they’ll reject Eric Hovde–again–if he tries to run for Senate,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Arik Wolk.
