Reminder: David Clarke, Tom Tiffany, & Mike Gallagher Want to Follow Florida and Ban Abortion at 6 Weeks
MADISON, Wis. — As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis takes to the stage at the Marathon County Lincoln Day Dinner, Wisconsin Republicans are following his state’s lead in pushing for a 6-week abortion ban on the federal level.

- Tom Tiffany and Mike Gallagher joined other members of the Wisconsin GOP delegation in Congress as co-sponsors of federal legislation mirroring DeSantis’ 6-week abortion ban, aiming to effectively ban abortion nationwide and strip Americans of their freedom to choose.
- David Clarke has called for bans on abortion, said that he believes abortion is murder and compared it to slavery, and praised overturning Roe v. Wade as “similar to a stay of execution.”
- Gallagher has even gone farther, co-sponsoring the “Life At Conception Act”—an extremist, outright national abortion ban, with no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. Gallagher’s legislation would also open the door to restricting access to contraception and fertility treatments like IVF.
- Wisconsin Republicans have received the support of Wisconsin Right to Life and Pro-Life Wisconsin, which has lobbied to ban birth control, as well as for the full enforcement of Wisconsin’s draconian 1849 abortion ban, supporting no legal exceptions to abortion, including protecting the life of the mother.
“Just like Ron DeSantis did in Florida, Wisconsin Republicans like David Clarke, Tom Tiffany, and Mike Gallagher want to take away Wisconsinites’ freedom to make their own medical choices,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Arik Wolk. “But as we learned last month, Wisconsinites reject their extremist agenda to ban abortion without exception.”
