Republican Gubernatorial Candidates Are Radically Wrong on Elections
MADISON, Wis. – Republicans running for governor in Wisconsin are entrenched in lies that undermine the integrity of the 2020 election. Rebecca Kleefisch, Tim Michels, and Tim Ramthun would rather pander to the ultra-MAGA base than protect democracy and the right to vote.
Whether it is election integrity or January 6, all three have staked out radical views in order to allow politicians to control the outcomes of elections.
Rebecca Kleefisch called the 2020 election in Wisconsin “rigged” and refused to say whether she would have certified the 2020 presidential election had she been governor.
Tim Michels has said that “President Trump probably would be president right now if we had election integrity” and that he does not think that Trump “did anything wrong” on January 6. Just last night, Michels said “everything will be on the table” when it comes to decertifying the 2020 election.
Tim Ramthun has centered his entire campaign around illegally decertifying the 2020 election and has falsely referred to the January 6th insurrection as a “Democrat-orchestrated riot.”
Governor Evers has worked to protect Wisconsinites’ right to vote by standing in the way of efforts that make it harder to participate in the democratic process. The ability of every eligible voter to participate in our elections is not a partisan issue, it’s a fundamental right that must be protected.
“Rather than standing up for democracy and the rule of law, Republicans running for governor refuse to accept reality,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Hannah Menchhoff. “Their extremism only works to undermine our elections, democracy, and to lie to Wisconsin voters.”
