MADISON, Wis. — Today, Republican politicians in Madison once again rejected an opportunity to make real progress on the issues Wisconsin’s working families care about, gaveling in and out of a special session to address our state’s chronic workforce challenges. Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement:
“Today, in mere seconds, Wisconsin Republicans showed just how unserious they are about addressing the looming collapse of our child care system and resolving the workforce issues that harm our economy. Wisconsinites have made clear what they need: paid family leave, real investments in higher education and job training, and access to quality, affordable child care. Governor Evers gave Republicans an opportunity to make bipartisan progress on issues that affect everyone, no matter where they live in our state. But, believing that they are insulated by their extreme gerrymander, Republican politicians in Madison once again obstructed progress on good policies to move our state forward. Wisconsinites deserve better.”
