MADISON, Wis. — Today, Punchbowl News reported that GOP Rep. Derrick Van Orden verbally harassed students participating in the Senate Page program, referring to them as “lazy shits” and demanding they “get the fuck up” off the floor of the Capitol Rotunda, where they had been taking pictures of the Capitol Dome.
In response, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund issued the following statement:
“As a former House Page, I know how hard Senate Pages work. This unhinged behavior directed towards 16 and 17-year-old kids is disqualifying, and is only the latest example of Van Orden’s disturbing conduct. From threatening a teenage staff member at the public library, to attempting to carry a loaded firearm onto a commercial aircraft, to crossing police lines on January 6th, Derrick Van Orden has demonstrated time and again that he simply lacks the temperament and good judgment to serve.”
