MADISON, Wis. — Following Governor Evers’ Budget Address, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement commending the governor’s budget proposal:
“In his Budget Address tonight, Governor Evers showed once again that he will always do the right thing for Wisconsin. Now, it’s time for Republican politicians in Madison to work with Democrats to do the right thing: pass this budget into law.
“With commonsense proposals to bring down costs for working families, create good-paying jobs, and make voting easy and accessible, Gov. Evers’ budget builds on the smart investments of his last two budgets to support the long term success of our state. Most critically, as the governor laid out tonight, we have an opportunity to use a portion of our state’s $7 billion budget surplus to make a historic investment in our kids and our schools, and to support local governments in providing critical services through shared revenue.
“Wisconsinites reelected Gov. Evers to deliver real results, and the governor’s 2023-2025 budget shows he is already hard at work to deliver on those promises. Gov. Evers’ commitment to doing the right thing shines through every page of this budget proposal. Let’s work together, across party lines, to move this budget forward.”
