Wisconsin Democrats on J.D. Vance’s Remarks to the RNC

MADISON, Wis. — Tonight, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement on Senator J.D. Vance’s remarks to the Republican National Convention:

“Today, new reporting revealed J.D. Vance in his own words expressing what we’ve long understood: that he ‘would like abortion to be illegal nationally.’ Nothing J.D. Vance said from the stage tonight masked the reality that he will be a rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s extreme anti-freedom agenda—beginning with new, cruel national restrictions over the private decisions women make together with their doctors and loved ones. J.D. Vance became Donald Trump’s pick for Vice President thanks to his willingness to wage extreme attacks on the soul of American democracy. A Trump-Vance administration would be an elegy for American freedom, and the more Americans learn about their Project 2025 plans, the more they will run for the hills.”
