Tim Michels Forgets His Own Proposal on Education?
Michels Education Blueprint Includes the “Parental Bill of Rights.” Now He Is Saying He Needs to See Plan in Writing First
MADISON, Wis. — Tim Michels released his radical education proposal a little over a month ago. Hidden under the language of signing a “parental bill of rights” is the goal of signing legislation that invites parents to sue schools.
Again Michels clearly says that he will “sign the Parental Bill of Rights”:
So why is it that while on the Vicki McKenna Show, Michels could not answer a basic question on it? See the exchange:
VICKI MCKENNA: So, let’s just go over some issues, because you know, people want to know. Would you sign a parent’s Bill of Rights?
TIM MICHELS: I would, but I want to know what’s in it, okay?
VICKI MCKENNA: Oh, sure.
TIM MICHELS: In business, you know, I just can’t say, ‘yes, set something in front of me, and I’ll sign it.’ I read these – I read everything. I read the contracts. I’ll read these bills. It’s always about the details.

Tim Michels has made it clear that he has extreme views on education. He is willing to use students as political props and pit community members against their schools all in the name of pandering to the far right.
But as usual, Michels is incapable of answering questions off the cuff that are not in his pre-written stump speech.
As a former educator, Governor Evers will always do the right thing for kids, parents, and education – including vetoing the bill to expand lawsuits against schools when it was originally introduced this past legislative session. Gov. Evers has allocated more funding for schools by restoring the state’s two-thirds funding commitment and signing the first special education funding increase in a decade. Wisconsin’s education system is now ranked eighth in the nation.
“Tim Michels has extreme ideas on education that will only divide parents, teachers, and students,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Hannah Menchhoff. “His radical agenda to sue schools is only meant to score political points, not improve education. Gov. Evers will always do the right thing for kids, parents, and teachers by working to bring people together, not tear them apart.”
