Seniors and Wisconsinites with Disabilities Could Be Devastated by Trump, MAGA Republicans’ ACA Repeal

MADISON, Wis. — Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans have doubled down on their threats to put Wisconsinites’ health care coverage on the chopping block by threatening to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which has been providing families across the Badger State with coverage for a decade. If Trump gets his way, 228,000 Wisconsin seniors and people with disabilities could receive worse care.

Here’s what repealing the Affordable Care Act could mean for Wisconsin seniors and Americans with disabilities:

  • Over 4.5 million Americans aged 55-64 could lose health care coverage
  • Funding would be slashed for critical home care services, which could cause wait lists for home care to balloon in Wisconsin

  • In the midst of a staffing crisis, Wisconsin could be forced to cut nursing home rates, which research shows could lead to worse care for residents

Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund released the following statement:

Despite clear opposition from the American people, Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans only continue to double and triple down on their extremist attacks on our health care. If they succeed in dismantling the Affordable Care Act, hundreds of thousands of seniors and Wisconsinites with disabilities could receive worse care as home care wait times balloon and the quality of nursing home care erodes.

That’s the MAGA vision for Wisconsin—letting vulnerable communities pay the price while the GOP sides with insurance companies and Big Pharma. Even just yesterday, Ron Johnson again argued against government action to lower drug costs for America. In 2024, Wisconsinites will reject this extreme MAGA agenda and help President Biden and Vice President continue to fight for affordable and accessible health care by sending them back to the White House next November.”
