Sen. Tammy Baldwin Stands Up for Social Security, Medicare at Democratic National Convention
MADISON, Wis. — This evening, Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin took the stage at the Democratic National Convention to call out Donald Trump for his plans to cut Social Security and Medicare, and to laud Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for their support of the programs. Following Senator Baldwin’s address, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement:
“Tammy Baldwin is a fighter, and we’re ready to fight for her. Whether taking on Big Pharma to lower prescription drug prices for Wisconsinites or helping to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that has transformed Wisconsin communities like Bronzeville, Tammy fights so that all Wisconsinites can have a better life. Tonight, she issued a dire warning about the future of Social Security and Medicare if extremists like Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Eric Hovde win this November, and reminded all of us why it’s so important that we elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz to keep these programs in place for the millions of Americans who depend on them.
“Make no mistake—Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Eric Hovde will slash the earned benefit programs that more than a million Wisconsinites rely on if given the chance to enact their dangerous Project 2025 agenda. Folks in Wisconsin are not going to let that happen. In Wisconsin, we believe that hard work should pay off, and that we should be able to count on the benefits we work hard to earn throughout our lives. Wisconsin Democrats are ready to stand and fight for Social Security and Medicare, and we know Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Tammy Baldwin are the champions who will lead the charge.”
