REMINDER: Duey Stroebel and Joan Ballweg Want to Take Away Reproductive Freedoms
MADISON, Wis. — Thanks to new, fair maps Wisconsin voters will have an opportunity this fall to hold Republicans like Duey Stroebel and Joan Ballweg accountable for their extreme attacks on reproductive freedom. The two year anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision serves as a reminder to voters that Stroebel and Ballweg will stop at nothing to take away reproductive freedoms from Wisconsinites.

Stroebel And Ballweg Both Voted To Uphold Wisconsin’s 1849 Abortion Ban And Supported Extreme Legislation That Would Threaten IVF. In the Senate, both Stroebel and Ballweg voted to uphold Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal ban on abortion and co-sponsored a fetal “personhood” amendment that would grant embryos the same rights as people—threatening IVF services that help Wisconsinites to start families. They also backed legislation that would subject doctors who performed abortions to jail time.

Ballweg Has Pushed A Cruel, No Compromise Position On Aboriton Access, Arguing Victims Of Rape Should Be Forced To Carry Pregnancies To Term. When asked about pregnancies that results from rape during a listening session with voters, Joan Ballweg reiterated her extreme anti-abortion position does not include any exceptions: “Even if it is started in a very terrible way, that’s still life.”.
“In the years before the fall of Roe, Joan Ballweg and Duey Stroebel pushed for an extreme, no-exceptions criminal abortion ban, and in the two years since the Dobbs decision, they’ve kept up their attacks on Wisconsinites’ freedoms,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund. “Duey Stroebel and Joan Ballweg will stop at nothing to take freedom away from Wisconsinites, but thanks to our new, fair maps, for the first time in ten years, Republicans like Duey Stroebel and Joan Ballweg will have to answer for their extreme anti-abortion records at the ballot box.”
