Rewind: Five Months Ago Today, Eric Hovde Said Most Nursing Home Residents Shouldn’t Be Allowed to Vote
“If You’re In a Nursing Home, You Only Have Five, Six Months Life Expectancy. Almost Nobody in a Nursing Home is at a Point to Vote”
MADISON, Wis. — Five months ago today, Eric Hovde said that most nursing home residents shouldn’t be allowed to vote because he believes they only have “five, six months life expectancy.”
Hovde later doubled down on these insulting claims, saying that “a large percentage” of nursing home residents “are not in the mental capacity to (vote).”
Hovde’s comments were criticized by everyone from Wisconsin seniors and caregivers to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Hovde’s bank was named in a lawsuit for wrongful death and elder abuse in a nursing home owned and overseen by the bank. Following his comments about nursing home residents, Hovde has continued his streak of insulting Wisconsinites, making offensive comments about single parents, people struggling with their weight, farmers, and more.
