MADISON, Wis. — Today, a new report from the Wisconsin Examiner revealed that a member of Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara’s staff told a member of the public that the Sen. Cabral-Guevara “does not support impeachment.”
Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara’s rating on the WisDems Defend Justice Impeachment Tracker moves to “Against Removal.”
This latest development means impeachment threats from Robin Vos and Assembly Republicans have now lost the support of two Republicans in the State Senate. Cedarburg’s Duey Stroebel represents the other Republican vote against conviction in the Senate, having announced his opposition last week in an interview with CBS 58.
Also today, former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Jon Wilcox revealed he had advised Robin Vos against impeachment as one of the three former justices named by Vos to a secret panel that is now the subject of a lawsuit alleging violations of Wisconsin open meetings laws.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund issued the following statement:
“The goose is cooked—Robin Vos doesn’t have the votes in the Senate to carry out his impeachment threats, and his own secret impeachment advisors are emerging from the shadows to advise him to back off. Much like the disastrous Gableman investigation, this latest attempt by Robin Vos and Republican politicians in Madison to overturn a free and fair election has ended in embarrassment.”
