NEW AUDIO: Extremist JD Vance Wants a National Abortion Ban
MADISON, Wis. — In alarming new audio that surfaced last night, Donald Trump’s vice presidential nominee JD Vance says he is “sympathetic to” new national bans to prevent women traveling across state lines for reproductive care.
Arguing for new national restrictions on abortion, Vance concocted an imaginary scenario in which “every day George Soros sends a 747 to load up disproportionately black women to go get abortions.” Vance then questioned whether a “federal response” was needed to prevent women from crossing state lines to receive an abortion and said “hopefully we get to a point where Ohio bans abortion in California and the Soroses of the world respect it.”
This is nothing new for JD Vance: for years, Vance has proudly touted backward and misogynistic views and made clear that he is ready and willing to wage extreme attacks against women.
“Let’s be clear about what JD Vance is telling us: as Donald Trump’s Vice President, Vance would push for new national bans on abortion—to include preventing women experiencing life-threatening complications with their pregnancies from crossing state lines to receive the medical attention necessary to save their life,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Press Secretary Melanie Bartholf. “Donald Trump made this nightmare possible in his first term, and now he’s running on a ticket with JD Vance—an extreme Republican politician fully committed to banning abortion nationwide in a second Trump term. Every Wisconsin Republican politician on the ballot should be asked whether they agree with JD Vance that women should be blocked from crossing state lines to safely access an abortion.”
