January 6th Insurrectionist Derrick Van Orden Ignores the Will of Wisconsinites

MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, an interview with Derrick Van Orden aired on Capital City Sunday in which Wisconsin’s most divisive congressman refused to acknowledge the will of Wisconsinites following the defeat of two Republican-authored constitutional amendment ballot questions in the August primary. Over 1.2 million voters came to the polls in record-breaking droves to protect Governor Tony Evers’ ability to quickly allocate federal funding, and the amendments failed by 15 points. 

But election-denying Van Orden doesn’t respect the will of Wisconsinites, saying he’s “not okay with that.” As it happens, elections aren’t the only thing he denies. Van Orden continues to outright lie about the funding Governor Evers sent his district during the pandemic–even as millions of dollars in pandemic relief aid poured into rural communities, including his own place of residence, Prairie du Chien.

“Derrick Van Orden never misses a chance to get in front of a camera and make a fool of himself,” says Democratic Party of Wisconsin Press Secretary Melanie Bartholf. “Van Orden is a January 6th insurrectionist. If there’s one thing he’s going to do, it’s ignore the will of voters. The people of western Wisconsin have been embarrassed by Derrick Van Orden long enough–and they’ll make their voices heard loud and clear at the polls in November.”
