ICYMI: Peter Barca Calls Out Bryan Steil for Failing Seniors in the First Congressional District

MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, the GazetteXtra reported on Bryan Steil’s long record of voting against legislation that would improve the lives of working Wisconsinites. Bryan Steil voted three times against bipartisan legislation that would lower prescription drug prices and cap the price of life-saving insulin to $35 a month for seniors in the 1st Congressional District.

“The congressional record doesn’t lie: Bryan Steil has repeatedly voted against bringing down costs and investing in the future of our state,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Deputy Communications Director Haley McCoy. “Unlike Bryan Steil, who puts corporate interests above his constituents, Peter Barca will be a champion for lower drug costs and will protect Wisconsinites’ earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare.”

Here’s what else Bryan Steil voted against:

  • The American Rescue Plan, which delivered direct relief to the American people and helped rescue the American economy after the devastation of COVID-19, and funded a $15 million grant for the City of Kenosha to redevelop a former Chrysler manufacturing site to support economic and workforce development.

  • The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which delivers critical funding to Wisconsin infrastructure projects while creating good-paying jobs statewide, including in his own district.

  • The For the People Act, which would have strengthened our democracy by expanding voting rights, implementing campaign finance reform, and banning partisan gerrymandering.

  • The CHIPS and Science Act, which allowed for investment in a biotech technology hub in Wisconsin which is projected to bring an estimated 30,000 direct jobs and 111,000 indirect jobs across the state.
