ICYMI: Glenn Grothman Wants the 1960s Back

MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Glenn Grothman went on a bizarre and misogynistic–but par for the course–rant about the “angry feminist movement,” calling for the United States to “work our way back” to the 1960s if Donald Trump wins a second term.

Grothman, who previously claimed the 1960s “had a lot better and wholesome America,” is pushing a backwards vision for our country that directly mirrors Donald Trump’s extreme MAGA blueprint for his second term: Project 2025. Like Grothman, Project 2025 calls for Republicans to set the clock back 60 years by gutting support for low-income and working Americans like the Head Start program in an effort to force couples to enter heterosexual marriages and have children.

“It shouldn’t have to be said, but just in case Glenn Grothman missed the memo: no one wants to go back to the 1960s-era of segregation, gender discrimination, and inequality,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Deputy Communications Director Haley McCoy. “Between Grothman’s ongoing crusade to bring back the 60s and Project 2025, the GOP continues to show just how extreme they are.”
