MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, Donald Trump revived his and MAGA Republicans’ decades-long push to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which helped more than 40 million Americans get health insurance. Trump promised that if he wins, he’d renew his effort to “terminate” the law that protects as many as 129 million Americans living with pre-existing conditions.
Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach) has called a full repeal of the ACA one of his top priorities, saying he wanted to “defund every aspect of the ACA,” including the Tammy Baldwin-written plan to allow people to stay on their family’s health plan until age 26. Hovde even specifically said he wanted to repeal the provision on protecting people with pre-existing conditions. Repealing the Affordable Care Act could allow insurance companies to deny coverage to 850,000 Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions.
“Eric Hovde and Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda puts millions of Wisconsinites at risk of losing life-saving health care coverage. Wisconsintes will reject their out-of-touch, extremist agenda next fall,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Arik Wolk.
