Do Eric Hovde and Scott Mayer Agree With Leading Prospective Senate Candidate David Clarke That January 6 Was “A Frat Party” and “A Joke”?

MADISON, Wis. — Three years ago, a violent mob stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overturn the will of the people, resulting in the death of a police officer and 1,000 assaults on law enforcement.

Leading potential GOP Senate candidate Sheriff David Clarke has downplayed the horrific violence that took place that day and spread lies and conspiracies about the insurrection.

Clarke said the violent mob was “a frat party gone wild,” “a joke,” and called for all of the rioters to be freed from prosecution and eventually pardoned. He also promoted the ‘Big Lie’ that the election was stolen, hosting a ‘Stop the Steal’ rally in Wisconsin.

As Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach) and Scott Mayer gear up to enter the Senate race, Wisconsinites deserve to know if they agree with the leading potential Senate candidate that the violent, deadly attack on our democracy was nothing more than a joke.
