Freedom Rings on Third Day of Democratic National Convention
MADISON, Wis. — Today, following the third day of the DNC, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement:
“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are fighting for our freedoms—the freedom to make our own reproductive health care choices, to the freedom to love who we love, to the freedom to support a family and retire with dignity. As a prosecutor, Kamala Harris took on criminals, fraudsters and cheaters, and as Vice President, she fought to protect and expand the freedoms of all Americans. As President, she will continue the fight of her career—her fight ‘for the people.’
“As Wisconsin’s own Mayor Cavalier Johnson underscored from the stage in Chicago tonight, this fight for our freedoms takes many forms—like the freedom to live in a community with roads designed to bring people together, instead of tearing them apart, and the freedom to trust that the water your kids drink from the tap is clean. Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, passed thanks to Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Democrats in Congress, the work of restoring communities through new infrastructure investments and replacing lead pipes to ensure clean water for all our kids is underway.
“Tonight, we celebrated the partner Vice President Harris has drafted for this fight: Governor Tim Walz, our fearless and common-sense Midwestern neighbor who will always do the right thing for Americans everywhere. As a coach, a teacher, and veteran who went to college on the GI Bill, Tim Walz reflects the promise of America, and can always be counted on to fight for fundamental freedoms that secure that promise for future generations.
“The contrast between the Harris-Walz vision of expanding our freedoms and the Trump-Vance vision of Project 2025 and taking those freedoms away could not be more striking. Donald Trump and JD Vance are running a campaign to take us back—and as we heard again tonight, we’re not going back. Wisconsin Democrats are jazzed as hell to fight for the Harris-Walz ticket because Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz have proven that they will fight for us.”
