Divisive Derrick Van Orden Ignores Call for Unity
MADISON, Wis. — As the Republican Party shifts their tone to preach unity in the days following the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, Derrick Van Orden has already let the facade fall.
Derrick Van Orden has continued to fling insults online and in interviews—both at Democrats and members of his own party. After a spat between Matt Gaetz and Kevin McCarthy on the floor of the Republican National Convention last night, Van Orden even took to social media to insult his colleagues, calling his fellow Republican “Tubby”—again—and “a little bitch.”
“Derrick Van Orden can’t help himself from rolling around in the mud with Matt Gaetz and it’s embarrassing,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund. “Van Orden’s career in Congress has been marked by one outburst after another, all punctuated by a complete inability to deliver on the promises he made to Wisconsinites—such as passing a Farm Bill. Wisconsin deserves better than Derrick Van Orden.”
