Derrick Van Orden’s Endless Summer Vacation
MADISON, Wis. — After dysfunction and division forced House Republicans to yank their own bills from the floor this week, Derrick Van Orden and the Republican-led House of Representatives threw in the towel and headed home early for their August vacation.
House Republicans came into the 118th Congress promising to pass 12 annual funding bills to keep our government running and serving American families—and they’ve failed miserably. The Republican-led House, which has only managed to pass four of the 12 promised appropriations bills, has become better known for its dysfunction and disarray than actually working for the American people.
“This Republican-controlled Congress will go down in history as the most dysfunctional and ineffective in American history—thanks in no small part to Derrick Van Orden,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Joe Oslund. “Instead of delivering on the promises he’s made to Wisconsinites—like funding the government or passing the Farm Bill—Derrick Van Orden has been a nonstop embarrassment for the Badger State. Wisconsin deserves a representative who puts in the work, not one who cuts out early for summer vacation with the job not even half done.”
