Democratic Party of Wisconsin Takes State Supreme Court Fight Straight to Elon Musk, Launches People v. Musk
MADISON, Wis. — After weeks of sowing chaos across the country and throughout the state by firing air traffic controllers, cutting rape crisis centers, and attacking Social Security, out-of-touch billionaire Elon Musk has set his his sights on the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the campaign of MAGA extremist Brad Schimel. Musk knows whoever wins the April 1 election will be the tie-breaking vote in court decisions, and he’s bankrolling Schimel to ensure a rubber stamp on the MAGA agenda in Wisconsin. So far, Musk-backed groups pour in more than $5 million million in spending to bankroll Shady Brad Schimel’s campaign against common-sense judge Susan Crawford.
Today, Wisconsin Democrats are launching the next phase of our fight against Brad Schimel, Elon Musk, and the right-wing special interests attempting to take over our state’s highest court. WisDems are launching the People v. Musk, a seven-figure grassroots effort to turn Elon Musk’s attempt to buy the Wisconsin Supreme Court race into a political disaster for Brad Schimel. These efforts include a digital ad campaign, town halls across the state, and billboards coming to a highway near you.
“As Elon Musk attacks the Social Security Administration, the VA, and cancer research, his groups have spent more than $5 million to install Brad Schimel on Wisconsin’s state Supreme Court so that he can eliminate any check on his power,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler. “Brad Schimel’s unholy marriage to Elon Musk is a threat to freedom, democracy, and the rule of law in Wisconsin, and the more voters hear about it, the more furious they become. With the People v. Musk, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin is going to turn the Musk-Schimel alliance into a massive political liability that ensures that Susan Crawford, a common-sense judge who can’t be bought, casts the deciding vote on Wisconsin’s State Supreme Court.”
