California Coward: Here’s What’s Happened Since California Bank Owner Eric Hovde Started Teasing a Run for Senate in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. — Twenty-one months ago, California bank owner Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach) announced that he was “seriously considering” running for U.S. Senate in 2024. After skipping out on Wisconsin winters for ritzy parties in California and Cabo yacht trips, Hovde is still cowarding out of actually declaring a Senate run.

While Hovde’s been hanging in California, avoiding scrutiny from Wisconsinites, and refusing to actually start campaigning, here’s what has been happening in the world:

  • Ron DeSantis’ ran an entire failed presidential campaign
  • There were 3 House Speakers and 19 House Speaker votes
  • Republicans tried, and failed, to recruit two members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation to run for Senate.
  • Conservatives spent more than $22.5 million to lose control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court
  • Aaron Rodgers played a full season for the Packers, embarked on a silent retreat, was traded to the Jets, starred on HBO’s Hard Knocks, tore his achilles, and teased his comeback
  • Damian Lillard averaged 32 and 7 for the Blazers, became a Buck, and called Dame Time for the hometown team.
  • The entire first leg of the Eras Tour occurred, including 8 shows in Hovde’s home state of California.
  • Jordan Love became HIM

And here’s what Hovde has been up to:
