ICYMI: Build Back Better Supports Wisconsin and Wisconsin Supports Build Back Better

Madison, Wis. –– This week, Wisconsinites across the state voiced their support for President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda as reports showed the positive impacts Biden’s American Rescue Plan has made, including supporting Wisconsin’s seniors and sending pandemic relief to small businesses. Looking to build on the success of the recovery efforts led by President Biden and Governor Tony Evers, Wisconsinites are calling for leaders in Congress to pass the American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan to further benefit their communities.

Evidence continues to show that Build Back Better is working — this week, the World Bank’s Global Economic Prospects Report confirmed the US economic picture has drastically improved since President Biden took office. Support for this agenda is also growing across the country, with a survey released by Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Businesses finding that 61 percent of small business owners support the American Jobs Plan and 60 percent support the American Families Plan.

Here’s what folks across the state are saying about the Biden agenda:

Kenosha News: Kenosha City Council Majority Votes To Support American Jobs Plan

  • “The Kenosha City Council threw its collective hat into the ring to support the American Jobs Plan that aims to fix infrastructure within communities and create employment opportunities.”
  • “Ald. Curt Wilson, the resolution’s primary sponsor, spoke on behalf of the American Jobs Plan: ‘The president’s American Jobs Plan will help municipalities and communities like ours all over the country,’ Wilson said. Wilson said the plan takes into consideration not only a wide range of infrastructure needs but also the creation of ‘good paying jobs for hundreds of thousands of Americans, and more.’”
  • “The city has a number of infrastructure projects that could potentially benefit from funding in the jobs plan…
    • Construction of streets and sidewalks in the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood
    • Revetment for areas along the Lake Michigan shoreline
    • Water utility for the Downtown redevelopment
    • Replacing lead plumbing service lines throughout Kenosha”

Isthmus: Restaurants Eye A Better Future

  • “A roundtable discussion with U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan and restaurateurs Patrick DePula of Salvatore’s Tomato Pies, [Assemblywoman, AD-76] Francesca Hong of Morris Ramen, and Peter McElvanna of The Coopers Tavern last week underlined that without financial help from the American Rescue Plan and Paycheck Protection Program funds from the government over the last year, these restaurants would likely have gone under during the pandemic.”
  • “‘The American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan (part of President Biden’s Build Back Better plan) address the kinds of problems facing the restaurant industry,’’ said Pocan.”
