Wisconsin Welcomes Clean Water Funds From Biden’s Infrastructure Law

MADISON, Wis. – This week, White House Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu visited Milwaukee to highlight how President Biden’s infrastructure law is funding the removal of lead pipes across the state.

After his visit, Wisconsinites are reading about how the infrastructure law will ensure that clean drinking water is a right in every home:

WPR: Wisconsin set to receive $841M to replace lead pipes

“Wisconsin will receive $841 million through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to eliminate lead pipes that can contaminate residents’ drinking water.

“‘The bipartisan infrastructure law will help pick up the pace of this work so that we can replace more lead service lines each and every single year, and allow us to expand our program beyond its current limitations,’ Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson said at a press conference Wednesday.”

“‘All across America this work is actually getting done,’ Landrieu said at a news conference Wednesday at a lead pipe replacement work site on the city’s south side.

“The sweeping plan, which Biden signed into law in November, is the largest investment in the country’s infrastructure in decades. It aims to address nearly every aspect of American infrastructure, including water, public transportation, roads, bridges, ports, railways, power and broadband internet.”

Elected officials and union leaders celebrated the Biden-Harris administration’s continued commitment to Wisconsin:

Congresswoman Gwen Moore: “Today, we welcomed @MitchLandrieu to Milwaukee to highlight the bipartisan infrastructure law’s funding to address Milwaukee’s lead crisis. With this bill, we will create jobs in our communities and help remove lead pipes, so our babies have better access to clean drinking water.”

Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson: “Thank you to everyone who came out today to see how the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will be put into place right here in Milwaukee. With this new law, we can replace more lead lines each year, and allow us to expand our program beyond its current limits.”

Wisconsin AFL-CIO: “President Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act at work! Union members from the Wisconsin Laborers, Plumbers Union, Operating Engineers, and IBEW met with White House Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu to tour a lead pipe replacement site.”

Wisconsin Laborers: “Welcome to Milwaukee @MitchLandrieu and thank you for taking the time to meet with the members of @LIUNA Local 113 who are working hard to replace lead pipes so everyone can have clean and safe drinking water.”
