(MADISON) — Following failed Republican Congressional candidate Derrick Van Orden’s attendance at Trump’s protest before the attack US Capitol last month, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin today announced a five-figure digital ad buy calling out Van Orden’s connection to the insurrection. The ad seeks to educate the public at a moment when Van Orden is desperately trying to whitewash his participation.
“Wisconsin voters already rejected Derrick Van Orden once this past November because of his divisive politics and failure to put people ahead of partisanship,” said Chair Ben Wikler. “His participation in Trump’s insurrection rally represents a new low. Van Orden is a danger to the state and has no place, and no future, in Wisconsin politics.”
The ad will run on digital across Congressional District 3 for the next few weeks.
This ad comes shortly after the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s release of the first television ad of the 2022 cycle calling on Sen. Ron Johnson to resign for his role in fomenting last month’s attacks on our democracy, as well as an ad exposing Mike Gallagher’s vote against Trump’s impeachment following the insurrection.
