Shot/Chaser: Ron Johnson and Republicans Want to Raise Taxes on Half of America, Democrats Want the Wealthy to Pay Their Fair Share
MADISON, Wis. – While Democrats have been laser-focused on lowering costs for working families, the Republican Party has made a habit of favoring the ultra-wealthy over the families they’re supposed to represent. That’s why it’s no surprise that Republicans like Ron Johnson have adamantly opposed President Biden’s Billionaire Minimum Income Tax – which would tax the top .01 percent of Americans, reduce the deficit by more than $1 trillion over the next decade, advance safety and security at home and around the world, and make the investments needed to build a better America.
SHOT: After rigging the tax code in a way that benefitted himself and his wealthy campaign donors, Ron Johnson is once again siding with the ultra-wealthy, saying the wealthiest in our country “pay their fair share” and a billionaire tax would “do more harm than good.”

CHASER: President Biden’s Billionaire Minimum Income Tax will require America’s wealthiest households to pay as they go, rewarding work not wealth. This minimum tax would ensure that the wealthiest in our country no longer pay a tax rate lower than teachers and firefighters. President Biden and Democrats’ plan will tax only the top one-one hundredth of one percent in our country – leveling the playing field and alleviating costs for working families.
