Seven Days to Act: Congressional Republicans Risk Federal Government Shutdown

In just seven days, the extremism of Senator Ron Johnson and Congresional Republicans could force another shutdown of the federal government. Congress must pass either appropriations bills or a continuing resolution by next Friday to avert a repeat of the irresponsible and reckless 2013 shutdown.

Senator Johnson’s out-of-touch priorities to defund Planned Parenthood and repeal the Affordable Care Act before reaching an agreement to fund the government could have serious consequences for vulnerable families in Wisconsin who rely on crucial education and human services programs.

“Senator Ron Johnson has to know that Wisconsinites are looking for him to finally lead and help avert a government shutdown,’ Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairwoman Martha Laning said on Friday. “It’s time for the Senator to put politics aside and over the next seven days work to keep our government open and working for the people.”
