Ron Johnson Stands By The Donald – How Low Will Trump Have to Go?
Yesterday, after yet more hateful, offensive comments from Donald Trump, incumbent Senator Ron Johnson was asked whether he would still support Trump if he became the Republican nominee. Yet while Trump’s statements have drawn widespread condemnation from Republicans, Democrats, and even Dick Cheney, Senator Johnson still refuses to denounce him.
Johnson commented through a spokesman to the AP, saying that despite Trump’s absurd and bizarre comments about banning all Muslims from entering the U.S., Johnson “has not changed his position that he will support whoever is chosen as the Republican nominee.”
Despite Trump stooping lower and lower, Senator Ron Johnson has continued to stand by the billionaire:
About women, Trump said:
“26,000 Unreported Sexual [Assaults] In The Military—Only 238 Convictions. What Did These Geniuses Expect When They Put Men & Women Together?”
Not low enough for Johnson, who called it:
“Not a real smart thing to do.”
About Muslims, Trump said:“Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on. We have no choice.”
Not low enough for Johnson, who said:
“This is not a serious or well-thought-out policy proposal,” but Johnson “has not changed his position that he will support whoever is chosen as the Republican nominee.”
About decorated war hero John McCain, Trump said: “He’s not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
Not low enough for Johnson, who said:
“I think what’s resonating about Donald Trump, I’d like to think, some things is appealing about my candidacy here in Wisconsin.” [MSNBC, 8/13/15] and Voters supported Trump because “people are looking for people seeking office to just tell them the truth.” [Ashland Daily Press, 8/7/15]
“Senator Ron Johnson can’t get enough of Donald Trump,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Executive Director Kory Kozloski said on Wednesday. “Just how low is too low for Senator Johnson to finally personally denounce Trump’s candidacy and potential nomination?”
