The following is a statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on Kelly Westlund winning the Democratic nomination for Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional district.
“For Sean Duffy, the needs of the people of north and central Wisconsin rank somewhere between complaining about how he struggles on his $174,000 Congressional salary and tweeting selfies before he flies in the Christmas sushi.
“Meanwhile, Kelly Westlund has been an outspoken advocate for measures that grow a stronger economy from the middle out, like raising the minimum wage and preserving our social safety net for seniors, working families, and family farmers.
“Kelly understands that hard-working families in north and central Wisconsin don’t want a representative who champions corporate welfare and supports John Boehner’s circus in Congress — they want a representative who shares our Wisconsin values and will put Wisconsin families first.”
