Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the announcement that state Senator John Lehman will run for Lieutenant Governor.
“Unlike Rebecca Kleefisch, who has marched in lockstep with Scott Walker and failed at growing Wisconsin’s economy, John Lehman brings serious and formidable experience to the table.
“Senator Lehman has served the public for decades as an educator, local elected official, and in the state Capitol, where he has a leader on education issues and served in the Joint Finance Committee.
“We welcome Senator Lehman and his strong progressive voice into the race as part of the larger movement to restore Wisconsin values, get our economy back on track, and put a stop to Scott Walker’s radical agenda.
“Should there be a primary, we are confident our open primary process will yield the strongest possible candidate next year.”
