The following is a statement by Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on today’s announcement from Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris on his decision on the 2014 gubernatorial race.
“In stark contrast to Scott Walker’s irresponsible budgets that have harmed Wisconsin families, Mark Harris has shown that government can be run on a budget without pushing massive debt to future generations or heaping the burden onto those who can least afford it.
“While he’s chosen not to seek the gubernatorial nomination at this time, it is my hope that Mark will continue to be a part of the conversation throughout this campaign. Mark’s experience in the private sector and as an executive, along with his principled commitment to progressive values like quality education, voting rights, and healthcare for all, will elevate both our eventual nominee and our Party.
“Clearly Mark Harris is a major player in the Party and will inevitably keep influencing the progressive movement in Wisconsin.”
