Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on federal jobs numbers that show Wisconsin lost 24,100 jobs in April 2013.
“Democrats and Republicans alike cheered the modest upward revisions to annual jobs numbers released this morning in advance of review by the federal government.
“But now that the monthly jobs numbers are out, we see that Scott Walker’s morning release was another purely political attempt to manipulate the news coverage in his favor, avoid any comparison of our jobs rankings to those of other states, and divert attention away from the fact that Wisconsin lost 24,100 jobs last month – the worst single month loss since the height of the national recession.
“And since he’s already used up all the good excuses that it was the protesters, then the recalls, then the national economy and then the President, Walker is sinking so low as to blame the weather for his complete and utter failures, while ignoring the fact that his flagship jobs agency lacks even the most basic accountability measures to track a single verifiable job it has created.
“No matter how much Scott Walker tries to muddy the water and blame anyone but him, the facts are the facts — under Scott Walker Wisconsin has plummeted from 11th in the nation in job creation down to 44th. It’s not working.”
