Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response to Republican legislation that would neuter the ability of the state’s Circuit Courts to find bills unconstitutional.
“Scott Walker has spent the past two years concentrating on power grabs — not on Wisconsin’s economy — and with predictable results. Millions of dollars have been spent defending laws that offend Wisconsin’s Constitution, while not creating a single job.
“Now, as he runs for president, Scott Walker Republicans are seeking to straighten the way for their power grabs in a way that shows that, rather than respect the Constitution, they fear it.
“This legislation is the mother of all power grabs and those who still believe in the balances ingrained in our Constitution should oppose it.”
