ICYMI: WisGOP Spokesman Charlie Sykes Runs Virulently Racist Parody of Food Stamp Recipients (Warning: NSFW)

Apr 04, 2013

During a segment on his Thursday show, Republican spokesman Charlie Sykes ran a virulently racist sendup of food stamp recipients literally taken from a profane parody song being celebrated by white supremacist hate groups.

The segment has since been removed from WTMJ’s podcast of the show. A transcript of the racist “Public Service Announcement” appears below.

The segment includes two African-American women speaking in exaggerated slang, suggesting that they were using their California Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards for “free liquor” and “free food.”

A link to the profane racist “song” that Charlie Sykes sampled on his show is here (NSFW).

“For too long, we have seen Republican spokesman Charlie Sykes ply the dark waters of racism. To hear the latest example is shocking in this day and age. The management at Journal Communications should remove him from the public radio airwaves,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday.

“Will the restaurant accept the EBT cards where they have food, Jack In The Box, KFC, Subway, El Pollo Loco, Rally’s Burger, most of the donut shops, and the burger stands, Woody Barbecue, R Fish Market, the beauty supply stores on Crenshaw, and Rainbow on Lebrea, you can buy you some clothes. How much you got on your EBT card?”

“Girl,  I got enough to get turned up, and I took the kids to the baby-sitter, and which liquor store take the EBT card where you get that Patron last time?”

“Public Service Announcement. This is where the taxpayer money goes.”

“Come to California. Free welfare, free liquor, free food!”
