There’s a reason Wisconsin’s economy is in the tank, ranking last in the Midwest in job creation and 44th overall, even as wages have declined.
And that’s because presidential candidate Scott Walker and his Republican Party of Wisconsin are “hellbent on austerity,” taking money out of the economy in ways similar to measures that have led to ruin in Europe.
This is the conclusion of Capital Times editor emeritus Dave Zweifel, who notes that while average Wisconsinites have suffered, corporations have done just fine.

“Wisconsin did not arrive in the economic tank by accident. We are at the bottom in the Midwest in every economic indicator as a direct result of Scott Walker’s policies. Now he wants to run for president on a record for which he should be ashamed,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Monday.
