ICYMI: Unemployment Rises in 10 of 12 Wisconsin Metro Areas: Whose Fault Is It?

Presidential candidate Scott Walker has assured Wisconsinites that he deserves credit for any good economic indicator that he manufactures, yet blameless for any bad economic news that arrives.

So who or what is to blame for the latest bad news?

The state reported Wednesday that unemployment rose in 10 of Wisconsin’s 12 metro areas in February; as well, unemployment rose in 10 of 12 of the areas on a year-to-year basis.

This follows news that unemployment increased in all 72 of Wisconsin’s counties; that Wisconsin ranks 44th nationally in job creation; that Wisconsin ranks LAST in the Midwest in every economic indicator; and that the unemployment rate spiked in Wisconsin at a rate unseen nationally or in the rest of the Midwest.

“So presidential candidate Scott Walker should answer the question: Whose fault is it that unemployment has gone up in ten of Wisconsin’s twelve metro areas, along with all the other bad economic news Wisconsin has borne? He cites rosy magazine fantasies and cherry-picked statistics, but when will Scott Walker bear ANY responsibility for Wisconsin’s economic woes?” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate asked Thursday.
