The Washington Post is reporting that Paul Ryan and Congressional Republicans are advancing legislation that would allow states to consolidate all state-federal aid programs into a single “Workforce Investment Fund,” where work eligibility requirements could be completely eliminated.
For weeks, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney have been dishonestly attacking President Obama’s support for welfare-to-work requirements, when the President’s proposals actually strengthen those requirements by moving 20 percent more people to work.
The Washington Post reports that, “despite what the Romney-Ryan campaign’s ads say, Paul Ryan is the only person on the national ticket to have supported doing it.”
“Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney continue to lie about the President’s support for programs that put more people back to work, even as Paul Ryan and his friends in Congress work to do the exact opposite,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. “This kind of blatant hypocrisy has become a hallmark of the Romney-Ryan ticket; luckily the people of Wisconsin are smart enough to see through the lies.”
