Following is the statement from Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the news that Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin will face GOP candidate Tommy Thompson the November election for U.S senator.
“Tonight, Republican primary voters presented Wisconsin’s working families with a clear choice for the November election — Tammy Baldwin. We always knew we would face a candidate who has double-downed on Tea Party extremism to make it through the primary. But that is not what Wisconsin’s working families want or need. In the next coming months, it will become even more clear that Tammy Baldwin will fight for Wisconsin’s families while Tommy Thompson will put those at the very top and the big monied special interests in Washington ahead of Wisconsin. Tammy Baldwin will do what is right for Wisconsin and fight for the middle class.”
