Statement from Mahlon Mitchell on Tonight’s Primary Election Results

May 08, 2012

My fellow Wisconsinites – I’m humbled and honored tonight to accept the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor. I can’t thank you enough for your support as we to try to bring our state back together and move beyond the rancor and division of the past 17 months.

I want to thank my supporters, especially those who gave their time to help gather signatures, knock on doors, make phone calls over the past weeks and those who gave financial contributions to help us get our message out.

I look forward to working with Tom Barrett and the great candidates running for State Senate as we spend the next 4 weeks finishing the job and reclaiming our state.

If elected lieutenant governor, I’ll work to bring the “all hands working” mindset of the fire service to our state capitol. I’ll look for ways to involve people of diverse views and backgrounds in finding commonsense solutions to create jobs here in Wisconsin. Every day I serve, I’ll make sure that the people will have a say in our policy decisions, because Wisconsin’s citizens deserve no less.

I thank the voters of Wisconsin for this opportunity and I ask for your support again in the general recall election on June 5th.

Together we can get this state back on track.
