MADISON – The following is a statement by Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on this morning’s announcement by state Senator Kathleen Vinehout on her candidacy for governor.
“Today’s announcement that state Senator Kathleen Vinehout has entered the race for governor is more good news for Wisconsin. Kathleen has long been a champion for health care and education, dating back to her time as a university professor, and has brought that experience to the senate where she has fought for affordable health care for all and equity in school funding.
Kathleen, a former dairy farmer, also understands the challenges facing rural Wisconsinites and small business owners. Unlike Scott Walker and his GOP legislature, she is committed to growing our Wisconsin economy and making sure there are plenty of good, family-sustaining jobs available.
With this bench of strong Democratic candidates vying to replace Scott Walker, its even more clear that whoever takes on Scott Walker will give Wisconsin a fresh start and begin the process of correcting the damage Walker has sown.”
