Van Wanggaard Betrays Racine County Jobs Seekers-AGAIN

Oct 25, 2011

MADISON-Van Wanggaard, the Republican state Senator from the city with the highest unemployment in the state, today cast the deciding vote against a deal that would streamline the state’s unemployment insurance system.

Wanggaard cast the vote-after previously voting FOR the legislation when it was in his own committee, and which cracks down on fraud.

Wanggaard previously voted to make unemployed people wait a week to collect benefits in the midst of their economic crisis.

“Van Wanggaard is supposed to represent the city with the highest unemployment in the state and has instead chosen to represent the people who have caused the unemployment,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Wednesday. “Voting against legislation he previously supported shows that not merely does Wangaard choose to betray the unemployed but that he chooses to dishonor himself in the process.”
