MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following Washington lobbyist Tommy Thompson’s announcement of his U.S. Senate bid this morning on the radio show of extremist Republican spokesman Charlie Sykes.
“When it comes to the U.S. Senate bid of Tommy Thompson, it look like there’s much not to like. Tea Party extremists have attacked Thompson for his big-spending ways and his shifting explanations for having supported President Obama’s health care reforms. Others have seen Thompson’s kowtowing to Tea Party extremists as a sign of a typical politician who just can’t get off the stage. The working families of Wisconsin should wonder who Tommy will really work for-them, or the Wall Street, Big Oil and Health Insurance giants for whom he has been pocketing millions as a Washington lobbyist.
The good news is that, wherever you are on the political spectrum, there is agreement Wisconsin deserves a much better choice for senator.”
