MADISON – At a hearing this afternoon, the Government Accountability Board determined that State Rep. John Nygren failed to gather the minimum 400 signatures required by state statute to be placed on the ballot as a challenger to Sen. Dave Hansen in the upcoming recall election in State Senate District 30.

“Today’s ruling by the GAB is both an embarrassing blunder for the GOP and a stunning victory for democracy in Wisconsin,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Monday. “That Scott Walker’s hand-picked candidate, John Nygren, could not gather enough legitimate signatures from the people of Wisconsin’s 30th State Senate district to run against Sen. Dave Hansen highlights the clear lack of enthusiasm for the extremist policies of the GOP special interests in Madison, and a rejection of the divisive dirty tricks and election fraud used by the GOP throughout the recall process.”
