MADISON — Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate regarding the GAB’s announcements today on state senate recall elections :
“The Government Accountability Board is right to take a serious review of the highly questionable recall efforts in the 30th, 22nd and 12th districts against Democratic senators. There is a substantial mountain of evidence – including more than 200 affidavits attesting to forgery and deceit – revealing a massive and systemic pattern of election fraud committed by the organizers of these recall drives, particularly the work done by an out-of-state group with a shady reputation. We believe the evidence shows that there were not enough valid signatures to trigger recalls in these three districts.”
“With today’s ruling, there are now 6 Republicans facing recall elections this summer because they put the special interests and political extremists ahead of the people in their districts. It’s time to hold them accountable for balancing the budget on the backs of the middle class, and gutting priorities like schools, health care and help for seniors while giving away hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks to the privileged and large corporations. This summer we start to take back Wisconsin by recalling these senators and winning a majority in the state senate.”
