Paul Ryan Fell off His Horse?

Apr 28, 2011

Converts, Allegedly, On Oil Subsidies

MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate on the apparent conversion of Big Oil cheerleader and Medicare enemy Paul Ryan on tax loopholes for oil companies enjoying record profits.

“On the heels of a disastrous string of so-called “listening sessions” here in Wisconsin, news reports are circulating that Paul Ryan, the able representative of Big Oil, Big Pharma, Wall Street and the health insurance lobby, has converted on at least one account. This would be major news, akin to an earlier Paul whom Scripture tells us converted and fell off his horse. When he isn’t posing for glamor shots in New York magazines or abusing facts with his Fox News cheerleading brigade, Paul Ryan has been busy advancing a budget that ends Medicare to finance massive tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires. But after years of culling donations from Big Oil in exchange for preserving billion-dollar loopholes, Ryan just might have seen the light. More likely, this is more cheap talk to garner national attention from a supposed budget expert whose votes added trillions to the national debt and whose policies sent hundreds of thousands of Wisconsin jobs overseas.”
