MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate in response to Dan Kapanke’s apparent claims of exoneration during ongoing investigations into his illegal slush fund.
“Dan Kapanke, whose long history of unethical behavior has defined his years in office, is in no way off the hook. Even though the Government Accountability Board says it did not find enough evidence to prosecute him for his use of a nonprofit foundation to pay down personal debt, there is evidence that the Internal Revenue Service continues to look into the shady deal. But haven’t we been here before, with Kapanke having to explain himself for shady and unethical behavior? Thank goodness that the citizens of the Coulee Region will have a chance soon to render their own verdict on Dan Kapanke’s unethical behavior.”
