MADISON- The House Republican Steering Committee on Thursday named GOP Rep.-elect Reid Ribble to the House Budget Committee, where he will serve under fellow Wisconsinite and Wall Street pawn Paul Ryan.
Ribble, who previously called Social Security a Ponzi scheme and proposed raising the retirement age, has been a consistent supporter of overhauling Social Security to finance tax cuts for the wealthy, by privatizing and rationing Social Security and slashing Medicare funding.
This appointment comes on the heels of Ribble’s vote for Congressman Spencer Bachus to chair the Financial Services Committee, despite Bachus’ belief that Congress is obligated to serve the needs of Wall Street banks.
“It’s clear by his vote for Spencer “Big Bank” Bachus that Reid Ribble is ready and willing to join Paul Ryan in advancing the GOP agenda of serving Wall Street banks at the expense of hard-working Wisconsin families,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Friday. “Ribble’s appointment to the House Budget Committee by Paul Ryan, one of Wall Street’s most devoted partisans on the hill, certainly appears to be a reward for faithfully supporting the failed Republican ideology that has crippled our economy and left thousands of Wisconsin workers unemployed.”
