The Taxpayer-Funded Hypocrisy of Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch:

Say or Do Anything: Government Insurance For Them But the Rest Must Fend for Themselves

MADISON – Proving they will say or do anything to get elected, while taxpayers have paid tens of thousands of dollars in health care costs for Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch, they are seeking to deny Wisconsinites the same benefits that they have utilized themselves.

In a misleading new ad, Kleefisch, the wife of a state legislator who is on the state-paid insurance plan to the tune of about $20,000 per year, inveighs against the very coverage she enjoys.

Walker, meanwhile, has been receiving taxpayer-funded health insurance since he joined the Legislature in 1993.

He recently has attacked BadgerCare as an unworthy entitlement program, promising to slash it and pay for tax cuts to the rich, even though he voted for the program while in the Legislature and even though it serves 400,000 workers or their families.

“Apparently, Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch go by the dictum, ‘The bigger the lie, the more they believe it,’ and think that what’s good enough for them is too good for the working families of Wisconsin,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Wednesday. “They believe in a two-tier system, where Walker and Kleefisch get what they need and the rest must suffer alone. They really will say or do anything to get elected.”
